Enlightenment

"The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world."   John 1:9

Enlightenment comes to us in many guises, sometimes catching us completely off guard. A shy smile from a total stranger of another gender, sexual orientation or color might erase a lifetime of bondage from destructive superstition, prejudice and ignorance. Or perhaps you experience the brilliant light of truth and knowledge through years of rigorous study, or by journeying to distant and exotic holy places. Many people experience transforming moments through unexpected acts of kindness, glimpses of beauty, a few notes of music, and during quiet walks.

Sudden or gradual, these intuitive flashes of insight carry the potential to be life changing-altering and transforming social, emotional, psychological, religious and/or political attitudes and behaviors.

But a frequently overlooked source of enlightenment is easily found through the teachings of Jesus Christ. Consider the breathtaking possibilities available to you—the light of Christ illuminates hearts with hope in every situation, and most importantly, his light is impossible to extinguish. Seekers and lovers of wisdom do not have to be Christian to benefit from his profound wisdom and strength. His enlightening words are freely available to everyone.

To access such generous blessings of divine truth and light, experience first hand these intriguing stories and teachings found in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John at least once in your lifetime. Listen to these wonderful words of life again and again.

When at life's crossroads, meditating on them can bring brilliant flashes of insight, lighting your way with true light for your journey. Your life will never be the same, and others will be changed as well. Expect to meet God in the open pages of the Bible throughout your spiritual journey and you will not be disappointed in your quest.

Now may the true light of Christ's teachings enlighten you with his love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. May these personal epiphanies spark miracles of healing, hope and help for your family, friends, loved ones, and throughout your nation and the world.

Prayer: True Light of God, shine generously in my life and in the lives of those I love, throughout my country and the world. Amen.
