To Zimbabwe with Love

Let God's Spirit guide you

"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come." John 16:13

While on women's retreat, my group sang a song inviting the Spirit of the living God to guide our steps. As we were singing, a locked door somehow blew open and a gentle breeze caressed each woman and the indoor labyrinth.

Throughout the weekend, we were acutely conscious of the Spirit's gracious presence among us with every breeze and step. God's Spirit of truth was guiding each person.

Just as the women on my retreat experienced God's gracious, guiding, illuminating and strengthening presence with each breeze and step throughout their retreat weekend, you too, can experience God's presence with every step and breeze in Zimbabwe.

As I continue to follow current events in Zimbabwe, it occurs to me that you might feel stuck in an impossible maze with the escalating problems, tensions and uncertainties in your beloved country. The truth might be covered with lies, corruption, politics, hunger, fear, hatred, violence and economic meltdown. You might be questioning if you are on the right path through all the chaos and confusion.

But if you are empowered with the Spirit of truth, you can confidently walk the labyrinth of life with complete faith, assurance and trust.

Whatever your circumstances, invite the Holy Spirit of truth to bless your steps. This gracious Guide and Counselor is eager to journey with you. In doing so, you will become bigger than your troubles. Truth will be revealed step by step.

May the Spirit of truth enfold you, illuminate you, bless and encourage you on your journey. Let each breeze serve as a reminder that God's Spirit travels with you.

Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit. I need you. Guide my steps today. Guide me into greater truth, while inspiring me to live courageously one day at a time. And, God, heal Zimbabwe and help her suffering people. Amen.
