To Zimbabwe with Love

God will take care of you

"Cast all your anxiety on God, for God cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Do you enjoy singing? "Singing helps us pray twice." The more numerous our sorrows and problems, the greater our blessing when we sing hymns of faith. Singing strengthens and uplifts our spirits, empowering us to continue on our faith journey. Praising God through song is good for our souls.

Today, as I think and pray for you, I find myself singing one of the world's most beloved hymns, "God will take care of you," written by Mrs. Civilla Martin in 1904. The first verse sings powerful words of faith: "Be not dismayed whate'er betide, God will take care of you; beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you." The chorus is very simple: "God will take care of you, through every day, o'er all the way. He will take care of you, God will take care of you."

What are the concerns and worries of your heart today? Be comforted. God will take care of you and Zimbabwe. Therefore, you can be confident and throw all your cares, concerns and anxieties on Almighty God day after day. God never tires of your prayers. God's immense love and compassion for you is higher than the highest mountain and deeper than the deepest ocean. God sees you, knows you intimately, cares profoundly, and is passionately in love with you. God will never forsake or abandon you.

Today's Bible verse and hymn are gracious reminders that God cares for us in all our circumstances, even down to the smallest and most obscure details and tiniest needs in our lives. God is deeply concerned with suffering people. Let God carry your burdens. The more you pray and sing, the more your anxieties and fears will be relieved. God can even make sense out of confused prayers, and prayers containing feelings too deep for words.

So whenever you feel nervous today or anxious about the future, give your feelings and worries to God. Put your hope in God and be confident in your struggles. Trust God to take care of you in amazing ways. Cast all your anxiety upon God, for God cares deeply for you. And may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Caring God, we trust you to care for us today and in the days ahead. No matter what happens, we know you will take care of us. We give you our burdens and anxieties, singing and rejoicing in your gracious care. Amen.
